Slate wagons are the basic vehicle for transporting roofing slates from the quarry to the destination. As roofing slates are relatively fragile, they were packed vertically into the open slate wagons to reduce the chance that they will be broken in transit. Early designs, like this one, used simple wooden rails to hold the packed slates. 106mm Long x 52mm Wide x 58mm High
